Welcome to the First Day of the Rest of My Life

Today is a big day.

I start my training to be the new Executive Director of The Cannonball House.

I’m nervous.

There’s so many positives to this new job, once I am done transitioning and working out my last days as a Web Producer at WGXA News I will have a lot more time with my children. You see, my schedule at the t.v. station was from 2:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.

I even tried to work at selling life insurance for a little while in the mornings- that did not work out.

I will be able to take my kids to First Baptist Church on Wednesdays, something I’ve really been wanting to do. I’m so excited about it.

But also, while my nights will be free for my children, my nights will also be free for me. Free to go to dinner with friends again, free to have a glass of wine, free to go to concerts.

And free to be alone.

Nights for me, when not busy, are when the loneliness creeps in. I’m sure I’m not the only one. It’s one reason I thought my evening schedule in t.v. might be a good thing. But the loneliness would still come.

I’ll still have more than plenty to do, what I did not have the chance to say in my Facebook post announcement is that my mother and I are teaming up to expand this website. To create a retail line, to truly make this a lifestyle brand. Something each of you can own a piece of. It’s an exciting time, to be sure.

I’ll be working on finally finishing a book that I started writing a little over a year ago.

I’ll also be doing some part-time promotions for one of my very favorites bands: All The Locals.

A DJ friend has asked me to help him book a party.

There’s plenty for me to do, but in the times that I don’t have something… I will learn to be alone.

Summertime is always when changes happen, it’s when people have left me before. Last summer was so hard in that way.

But today is the first day of the rest of my life, and I’m excited to see where it will lead me. The chance to make a greater impact on my hometown that I love. The chance to let more people know about this lovely museum here. And to grow in my own journey.

Wish me luck, y’all!

Love to all y’all,

Molly
