Smoothie Short Cuts

Hi hi hi!

Something I have discovered recently is that there was a blender, with all of it’s pieces and parts, in my parents kitchen. Brilliant: now I can make smoothies to aid in my eating better.

You see, I’ve been on a real eating organically and cleanly as much as possible here lately thing. And one of the biggest challenges in doing so is that my schedule is bananas-crazy-busy. I’m always running around somewhere. And while I have tried the whole making my lunch in advance thing, it’s just hard.

This plan still requires some advance work, but it’s a method I’m still in the process of perfecting. Let me walk y’all through how I came about this new plan of mine….

I have bought a TON of veggies and fruits lately. A ton. And half the damn time it goes bad cause I can’t eat it all and I can’t convince my kids or other family members to eat healthy with me. Well I made yet another trip to buy these items the other day, a few days before my CSA from The Dirt Farmers arrives (and it arrives TODAY YAY) and literally the next day I realize the figs I bought are already heading towards going bad.

NO. HELL NO. I won’t do this again. So I set about to cut up all of the fruits. A package of figs, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, mint leaves, spinach, and more. As I’m cutting all of this up I get the brilliant idea to put portions in plastic zip up sandwich bags. But… even in the fridge I’ve got way more than just a day or twos worth cut up here.

Freeze them. It might not seem like a huge revelation to y’all but it was like the angels and all the lights of heaven went off in a glorious chorus behind me. I’m a damn genius. This way I cut up all veggies and fruits before they go bad, they stay preserved in freezer, AND it shortens my prep time in the mornings!!! Win win win- winner chicken dinner. And I’m eating healthier even if no one else will.

What are your favorite smoothie recipes? Right now I’m making one with red plum, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, mint leaves, spinach and peace. Should be good I think!

Love to all y’all!
