My New Favorite Day-to-Night Dress: Mink Pink

 

Mink Pink is one of my favorite new designers. I first discovered them at Karats and Keepsakes in Macon, and then again at Flirt Fashions in Athens. Mink Pink is a super fun designer, and even their Instagram account makes me laugh with posts like this:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bahahaha anyways, they always make me laugh!

 

Aside from the humor, they make really fun- youthful clothes. And it’s items that can be easily dressed up or down and made to match whichever style you have. I’m sure some of you can remember this from one of my Valentine’s Day posts:

 

 

The sparkly-sequined-crop-top is one of my favorite fun fashion items, and I’m always looking for an excuse to pull it out.

But THIS dress is my super new favorite day-to-night dress. So many times we ask what kinds of items can we *really* take from the office to out and about on the town later. This one is perfect. You can wear it with a blazer and pumps it’s instantly office appropriate- OR you can take off the blazer and let those shoulders show and add some dazzling shoes and BAM helllllloooo cocktails.

 

 

 

 

 

Above, you will see this Mink Pink Dress in the “day” version of the day-to-night dress. I’m with my friend, Jen of Flirt Fashions, at our favorite brunch spot: 5&10 in Athens. I’ve paired it with my fav fav BCBG nude d’Orsay cut pumps and a white blazer, trimmed with black leather, from Trunk 13 Boutique in Savannah.

 

One thing I personally have observed that can make some dresses harder to wear during the day, even if they transition well to the evening, is what kind of bra you would wear with it. I know we don’t always like to discuss our undergarments in public but it’s a very real concern. This dress, because of the way it cuts in the back, is not one you can easily wear a bra with. So I opted to go without. This is not a decision I make lightly! I’m not exactly a small chested girl, so if I go sans-bra it must be for a good reason- especially to the office. But the nice thing about this dress is it offers ample support in the way it’s designed, and the leopard print can disguise any- um…..- incidents regarding colder temps. (And a blazer can help with that also.)

 

 

Now, for the evening look- I actually pulled this out for a casual lunch with my friend Nicole at Harpin’s in Macon. It’s something that a person in the creative industries can pull off during the day, but many of us might not feel that brave in the light of day. However, the evening beckons us for something a little darker, a little more punk rock, and with a little more skin than the first way I wore this.

 

Here, I wear my BCBG cage heels and extra sparkly earrings by Diana Warner.

 

 

 

 

The cage heels add an interesting twist to an already funky dress, and I prefer to go with large earrings and my Michael Kors bracelet for accessories. You can barely see my Tiffany necklace from here, but it’s there. Had I gone with more demure earrings, I would have used a larger statement necklace- something to add some color. You could also go with bright, neon colored pumps or clutch to add color.
