Logic From My Parents Kitchen

Some of you who are friends with me on my personal page will remember these gems from my parents.

Like the time my father brought out my families good ol’ Alabama redneck genes and took a power drill to a casserole my mother bought him, his logic being he would cut it up while frozen and have a few nights worth of meals. (Note: Pretty sure Casserole Shop would make them in to smaller tins had my mother asked to begin with.) I had just missed him using the power drill and found him splitting it with some other set of tools. Lord.

Or the time my mom said if she left the lid on the pot of vegetables that it wouldn’t cook the nutrients out. #SMH.

Then, the other day, there was this gem….

Dad: “Hey here’s something you can write about- know how you can make scrambled eggs? Wait, what’s the vegetables you can put in them?”

At this point I’ve got my head in my hands, dying, restraining all of the snark. It’s amazing how much we can talk about food preparation.

Dad: ” Anyways, you take scrambled eggs, and put vegetables in them, and put them in a plastic bag and then put them in the boiling pot.”

Me: ” Dad- that’s called ‘sous-vide’.” (***Note: I know this isn’t 100% accurate, I know there’s a lot more to it than that.)

Mom: “What????!!!!!”

Dad: ” So yeah well, that’s a great way to make scrambled eggs when you’re camping.”

It just blows my mind the things that my parents have to say about food and food prep- of course my Dad also says thing like “well I ate this my whole life and I’m fine” in regards to my tangents of wanting to get everyone to eat better.

So yeah. Figured y’all could use some comedy today courtesy of my parents kitchen and food logic.  I’m going to get back to work now.
